Shitty Attitude

Hey Folks,

So, here's a bit of real talk from my corner. I had this deep chat with my dad today, and it's all about facing up to failure. Now, as someone who's all about seizing the day and living life to the fullest, this convo hit different. After completing another report for the Keirsey in Athletics, I realized that this version was much different from the prototype. Inside the prototype, I messed up, and truthfully, it’s because I had a shitty attitude. And I’ve learned the hard way that shitty attitude leads to shitty results. Because of my inattentiveness, it resulted in errors that caused me to have to redo the entire prototype and the 2nd report. I told my dad about it, and he informed me to fix my mistake, and I had to learn the hard way; by redoing it. Getting the prototype right was of crucial importance because it would be the first domino for the rest of what we needed to create.

After, my dad shared a story about a friend of his who he had to fire because he had really f***ed up on a massive project. The failure lost his friend the opportunity of a lifetime, where his friend’s firm could have been the exclusive provider to service the upper echelons of Fortune 50—(that’s not a typo in case you were thinking that I meant Fortune 500 instead of Fortune 50). I actually met my dad’s friend before, and we really enjoyed meeting him. So to hear about a friend being fired was interesting. Learning from his mistake, I realized that if you fail to deliver on what you said you would, that the consequences in some cases can be huge. I realized that I don’t want that to be me. I am 14, and my dad’s friend is in his 40s. But, I learned that what I do at 14 can continue if I don’t address my stuff now in my teens.

This got me thinking. Sure, I'm all for diving into life head-first, but this story is a serious nudge about making sure that I am fully engaged with a great attitude, and attentiveness. In the big, bold world out there, when you slip up, it's not just a small stumble sometimes. It's a reality check that urges you to level up. But here's the deal—don't let the fear of a misstep bog you down. Even the greats have had their share of flops. What's crucial is what you learn from them, how you bounce back, and how you up your game next time. So, here's my takeaway for all of us who live for the moment but also dream big. Let's grab every opportunity with both hands, but let's be savvy about it. Let's blend our zest for life with a dash of wisdom. In short, let's keep it cool, keep it daring, and make sure to remember that the right attitude will get you altitude, whereas a shitty attitude can leave you in a shithole. When we put this together, we can make our mark in this unpredictable journey of life.
